Claude Code weekly limits sit 50% higher until August 31
Promtime
anthropicAnthropic has raised weekly usage limits in Claude Code by 50% under a limited-time promotion that runs from May 13, 2026 through August 31, 2026. The increase applies automatically to accounts on eligible plans, with no opt-in step, according to Claude's support documentation.
At a glance
- No opt-in is involved: the larger weekly allowance is applied automatically to eligible accounts, and the /usage command in the CLI reports the revised figures for the current period.
- The window opened on May 13, 2026 and closes at the end of August 31, 2026, and the separate 5-hour usage limits in Claude Code are not affected by the change.
- Coverage is limited to Claude Code across the CLI, IDE extensions, desktop and web, so allowances for Claude on web, desktop and mobile and for Claude Cowork remain unchanged.
Weekly caps have been the binding constraint for developers running long agentic sessions, and a temporary 50% lift reads as a way to relieve that pressure without repricing plans. The framing is narrow by design: the extra headroom sits in the coding product alone, while Claude on the web and Claude Cowork keep their existing ceilings. The expiry date also sets a reference point for whatever limit structure Anthropic settles on afterwards.
Eligibility follows plan type rather than any usage threshold. Pro, Max and Team plans qualify, as do legacy seat-based users on Enterprise plans. Free plans are excluded, as are consumption-based Enterprise seats, which the notice lists separately from legacy seat-based access.
The 50% lift covers Claude Code everywhere it is used, according to the notice: the command-line interface, IDE extensions, the desktop app and the web. Usage limits for other Anthropic products are untouched, including Claude on web, desktop and mobile, and Claude Cowork. The terms add that the offer has no cash value, is not transferable and cannot be combined with other offers.
Participation requires no action. The notice states that the higher weekly limit is reflected in Claude Code usage without any changes to account settings, and that running /usage in the command-line interface shows the updated limits on an eligible account.
What changes on September 1
Weekly limits return to standard levels once the window closes on August 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT, with no change to plan or billing. The documentation names no successor promotion and no permanent revision of the standard weekly caps. Anthropic has previously run a holiday usage promotion covering the 2025 season, and the current notice covers only the May to August window.
