Tens of thousands of Mac minis go into AI training

OpenAI has acquired tens of thousands of Apple Mac minis and Mac Studios to bolster its reinforcement learning and computer-use agent training, according to The Information. The report describes the buy as a move beyond traditional GPU-heavy setups toward more versatile computing resources. Per the same report, Anthropic is renting Mac minis through AWS for similar purposes.
