Reuters reports that the U.S. government has backed OpenAI in the copyright case brought by the New York Times, putting Washington behind an AI lab in court against a newspaper. Reuters published the story on September 2 and doesn't spell out what the government filed. OpenAI's copyright docket also includes the German suit from publisher Carlsen over the children's book "NEINhorn", filed on August 19.
