OpenAI shelves its next model after internal safety tests

In a rare move for a major AI developer, OpenAI says it's scrapping the release of its next-generation model over safety concerns researchers raised during internal testing, the Wall Street Journal reports. The paper sees it as one of the clearest signs so far that agent misbehavior could stymie the industry, after a summer of reports of AI systems going rogue. The report doesn't name the model or say what the testers found.
