Bloomberg reports Stripe has finalized an agreement to acquire OpenRouter, so the routing layer developers use to switch between AI models ends up inside a payments company. TechCrunch reports the same price.
The distance from OpenRouter's last round is wide. It raised money at a reported $1.3 billion valuation in May, with Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures and Alphabet's Capital G in the Series B, per TechCrunch, which also puts the catalog at more than 400 models.
Earlier reporting had pointed higher: The Information and the Wall Street Journal referenced a deal at around $10 billion. The Journal reported last month that the two companies were in acquisition talks.
