Trail of Bits may end up inside OpenAI, report says

According to The Information, OpenAI is holding early talks to acquire Trail of Bits, a firm that finds and fixes vulnerabilities in open-source software. Sources told the outlet the talks could fall apart.
The two already work together. In June they launched Patch the Planet, where Trail of Bits staff use Codex and security-focused models to fix bugs in projects like Python. CEO Dan Guido said Codex let them deliver "in a day what would have taken weeks."
The Information says the deal would help OpenAI grow its security business. OpenAI and Anthropic have competed this year on AI built to find software vulnerabilities, and OpenAI just hired former Wiz executive Dally Rajic as chief revenue officer.
The report doesn't say what OpenAI would pay.
