Gemini Notebook reports generate slides on demand

Interactive reports in Gemini Notebook now appear functional enough to generate and test, TestingCatalog said in a September 14 hands-on, though Google has not publicly announced the format. Such a report opens on placeholders: each embedded item is generated only when a reader picks “Add”, and whatever is made that way is also added to the notebook itself.

In TestingCatalog’s test, an interactive report is a longer-form report that holds other Gemini Notebook artifacts, not an artifact type of its own. Its placeholders stand for a mind map, a slide deck, a quiz or flashcards, and a generated item stays embedded in the page, so slides can be browsed, a mind map navigated and the learning materials used without leaving the report.

On August 30, TestingCatalog reported a new “Interactive” option in the report creator, described as “An interactive report with embedded Studio content.” Earlier builds had carried placeholders for Canvas and Web Page outputs. About two weeks later, its hands-on covered only those four types, and whether the format will support other Studio outputs is unclear.

Mind maps, slide decks, quizzes, flashcards and reports themselves already ship in Gemini Notebook, formerly NotebookLM, as separate Studio artifacts, and Google has widened notebook sharing and connections across its Gemini ecosystem. TestingCatalog sees interactive reports as pulling those pieces into one presentation layer and thinks the format could be particularly useful for students, educators, researchers and people who publish notebooks as explainers, since one document can combine written context with several source-grounded formats.

No rollout date is known, but TestingCatalog takes the new-feature labels and a format that now generates on request as signs that a release could be close.
