Ideogram Vector 1.0 splits each SVG into editable layers
Ideogram has moved its image generation into vector graphics. Vector 1.0, live on Ideogram and through APIs since October 22, writes SVG files from a text prompt and converts existing images into vectors. The company pitches it for logos, print designs and illustrations.
The output isn’t one flattened drawing. Each component sits on its own layer that you can rotate and move, according to the announcement on Threads. That means a generated logo arrives as separate pieces you can rearrange. SVG describes shapes as paths, so the file stays sharp at any size and works in vector editors or directly in code.
You pay per SVG. Text-to-vector costs $0.13 at low quality, $0.16 at medium and $0.20 at high. Adding reference images raises the price only at high quality, to $0.32, which is 60% more than the same tier without references. Vectorizing an existing image costs $0.10, less than the cheapest generation tier. Generation and vectorization have separate API endpoints.
That puts Vector 1.0 at 10 to 32 cents per file. For comparison, Ideogram priced a native 2K raster image from Ideogram 4.5 at 0.8 to 22 cents in September.
The model also runs on fal. There, the ideogram/vector/text-to-vector endpoint takes a prompt and optional reference images. It offers the three quality levels plus aspect ratio controls and bills per generated SVG. Every result comes back with the content type image/svg+xml and the file name vector.svg.
