Anthropic's IPO price talk slips toward $1.5 trillion

Some Anthropic investors at Wednesday's investor day in San Francisco discussed a valuation of around $1.5 trillion, three people told Reuters. The November share sale had been expected at roughly $2 trillion.
Anthropic told them third-quarter revenue jumped 45% to $16.8 billion from the previous quarter and that it was profitable on an adjusted basis. Some were still disappointed: in the second quarter, revenue had more than doubled to $11.6 billion.
The backdrop is rough. A tech selloff hit chipmakers and AI compute renters, CoreWeave's shares and bonds tumbled Thursday, and Holtec Nuclear pulled its IPO plans. Anthropic didn't immediately respond to Reuters.
A profitable quarter, and the price tag still went down.
