Replit's CEO says goodbye to Anthropic, insiders disagree

"I think ChatGPT is better now," Amjad Masad said Thursday onstage at TechCrunch Disrupt, explaining why Replit has stopped working with Anthropic. He cited cost, partnership and performance, adding that on Replit's benchmarks "Sol and Astra perform better on building vibe-coded applications from scratch."
Insiders familiar with the deal push back. One person who asked not to be named said the partnership is still in place, and a late-September Replit blog post lists Claude Fable 5 and Claude Fable 5.1 in Replit Agent's production environment.
Replit announced an OpenAI partnership in August, while the Claude deal was said to have helped grow its revenue significantly. Masad didn't say when Claude actually left Replit's production, which is the detail that would settle the contradiction.
