Replit's CEO says it left Anthropic. Insiders say otherwise

"I think ChatGPT is better now," Amjad Masad said onstage at TechCrunch Disrupt on Thursday. The Replit CEO and co-founder says the coding platform stopped working with Anthropic over "cost, partnership, and performance."
Masad pointed to Replit's internal and public benchmarks, where he says Sol and Astra consistently do better at building vibe-coded apps from scratch. Replit announced an OpenAI partnership in August.
One person familiar with the deal told TechCrunch the Anthropic partnership is still in place. A late September Replit blog post also lists Claude Fable 5 and Claude Fable 5.1 running in Replit Agent's production environment.
Masad quoted no benchmark scores onstage, and Replit hadn't answered TechCrunch's request for clarification.
