Weekly cap on Claude Max lands in an expanded suit

An expanded class-action lawsuit filed Tuesday argues that Anthropic’s promise of 20x more usage on the $200 Claude Max tier obscured a separate weekly ceiling developers keep hitting. The Verge first reported the complaint.

Anthropic’s documentation says the 5x and 20x multipliers apply “per session,” with limits resetting every five hours, and the company also imposes a weekly cap across all models. Plaintiffs allege the weekly limits arrived in late July 2025, months after Max launched in April, while the same usage claims stayed in the marketing.

Anthropic pushed back in its motion to dismiss an earlier version of the case, saying customers could reach information about the limits through hyperlinks during purchase. It compared those disclosures to a product label a shopper can turn over before deciding to buy.
