Anthropic revamps Agent SDK pricing
Starting June 15, 2026, using Claude through the Agent SDK and the command `claude -p` will no longer count toward standard Pro and Max subscription limits. Instead, users get monthly credits: $20 for Pro and $100 for Max 5x. Once those credits are exhausted, requests are billed at API rates.
The changes affect third-party tools built on Agent SDK, like Zed, Conductor, and T3 Code. Developers estimate the effective cost of using AI in these apps has risen 15-40x. Interactive use of Claude Code in the terminal, the web version, and Claude Cowork remain on standard subscription terms.
Anthropic says the new credits are meant for individual automation.
