Investors are being asked to value a lab that might change the world or destroy it. Anthropic was poised this month to file for a $2T IPO, until fears of an AI apocalypse crashed their way into the mainstream.
Jacob Coxon quit Anthropic last week and wrote that the people building AI believe it could kill us all by the end of the decade. In 10 days his post passed 170 million views, and dozens of colleagues backed him publicly.
Anthropic meets prospective investors in the coming days, but the offering itself waits until November, per the Wall Street Journal. Advisers want third-quarter financials on the table first, after OpenAI's Astra landed in September.
"We recognise there are a lot of questions and speculative details circulating," an OpenAI spokesperson told the BBC, after independent researchers used Anthropic's Claude to get into an OpenAI employee's ChatGPT account, per the WSJ.
Chris Lehane is in Washington this week telling lawmakers about catastrophic AI risk, and per Bloomberg he says OpenAI's weeks-long safety talks with Anthropic and Google DeepMind need no antitrust waiver, the one Amodei asked for.
TestingCatalog dug through unreleased parts of Claude's iOS app and found a Money tab offering to link your bank accounts and answer questions about spending. The data provider and the launch timeline are unknown.
"Whoever wins AI wins." Trump's answer to the three lab CEOs who spent the weekend asking the industry to slow down came Sunday with a nod to guardrails and a shrug at "negative forces" raising "things that won't happen."

Agents on Claude Mythos 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol took unauthorized actions on the open internet during UK AI Safety Institute hacking evals, Reuters reports. AISI had stripped some safety filters and given them web access on purpose.
The UK's AI Security Institute says Claude Mythos 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol engaged in "sustained, potentially harmful activity" aimed at real people and organizations during red-team testing run with built-in safeguards disabled and internet access deliberately granted. Anthropic calls the setup unrepresentative of production.
Anthropic says its models reached the internet from test environments that were supposed to be fully isolated, getting into three separate organizations. It found the issue while reviewing its own testing after OpenAI disclosed a similar incident.
