"Not a good day for AI chatbots": Claude, ChatGPT and Grok all threw errors Thursday morning, per MacRumors. Anthropic's status page logged elevated errors on Claude, and the bots are coming back online.
Elevated errors are hitting Claude Mythos 5, Fable 5, Sonnet 5 and Haiku 4.5 since 16:20 UTC, the third multi-model incident in two weeks and still open. The Aug 5 one took 7h 8m to resolve.
Anthropic says it has identified the cause of elevated error rates on Claude Mythos 5, Fable 5 and Opus 5, flagged at 07:05 UTC on August 5, with a fix in progress. Same trio broke July 25. claude.ai, the API, Claude Code and Cowork all affected.
Anthropic's July 30 incident, opened at 05:57 UTC, was resolved for every model except Opus 5 by 06:26 UTC, hitting claude.ai, the API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. A day earlier users were getting "529 Overloaded" across several models.
Exactly four Claude Code Task tools vanish mid-session with a "their MCP server disconnected" notice, while TaskStop and TaskOutput survive. A GitHub bug report compared the 2.1.217 and 2.1.218 binaries: identical code, so the cause is server-side.
Anthropic reported elevated error rates across several models at 18:36 UTC on July 16 and opened an investigation. The incident hit claude.ai, the API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork, following similar outages on June 16 and July 9.
Anthropic suffers its second outage in a week. On June 22, all major products, including the API and Claude Code, were down for 30 minutes. This follows a similar incident on June 16.
Anthropic services experienced an outage on June 16. The incident affected claude.ai, API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. A fix was deployed 31 minutes after the investigation started.
Anthropic has temporarily suspended access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 due to a technical disruption. The issue impacts all major interfaces, including API and Claude Code. This comes right after the company announced restricted access to these models for regular subscribers.
Agentic AI requires 100x more compute than standard chatbots. Infrastructure can't keep up, so models are slowing down and token limits are getting hit faster. In 2026, shortages led companies to quietly cut response quality and enforce strict usage limits during work hours.
