Anthropic will bill again for requests its safeguards block

Claude News

A request that never gets an answer will cost money again. Per Anthropic's ClaudeDevs account, the company is resuming charges for requests its safeguards block before Claude responds, citing "some coordinated attacks on our systems in recent weeks."

The rule covers only three categories where Anthropic says false positive rates are low: biology, distillation attacks, and frontier LLM development. Distillation means training a rival model on another model's outputs, the practice Anthropic has been fighting in public.

Anthropic didn't say what a blocked request costs or how low those false positive rates actually are. The announcement says charging resumes today.
