Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon is leaving the AI industry over fears that his employer and its competitors are racing to build systems they won't be able to control, The Wall Street Journal reports. His specialty is training new models by having them consume vast amounts of data.
Coxon said Tuesday he doesn't want to take part in an industrywide rush to build AI that can improve itself, worried such systems could spiral out of control and destroy humanity. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has himself warned publicly about the risks of rogue AI models.
