Anthropic Is Building Its Own Chip

<b>Anthropic confirms it's building an in-house chip team for Claude</b>

An Anthropic spokesperson told Business Insider the company is assembling an internal team to design its own chips for Claude, the first time it has publicly confirmed the plan. The idea is to co-design the hardware and the models together so Claude runs faster and more efficiently "at the scale our customers need."

That doesn't mean walking away from anyone: silicon from AWS, Google, Nvidia, and AMD stays the backbone of Anthropic's scaling, and the company describes its strategy as a "multi-chip approach."

One engineering listing puts the pay band at $320,000 to $485,000 and asks for "direct personal contribution" to taking semiconductor designs through bring-up and release. Reuters previously reported that Anthropic was exploring designing its own chips, and The Information wrote last month about talks with Samsung Electronics as a possible manufacturing partner.
