Abnormal responds to Anthropic's trademark lawsuit

Anthropic sued Abnormal on July 1, alleging unfair competition and trademark infringement. The dispute centers on Abnormal's slash-based logo, which Anthropic claims is too similar to its own. Abnormal founder Evan says he learned of the suit from a reporter, not from Anthropic, despite Abnormal being a major Anthropic client.
Abnormal's defense is that it was founded in 2018, three years before Anthropic, and its current logo was designed by the agency ALINE in April 2021. Evan notes that Anthropic holds no registered trademark covering the cybersecurity products Abnormal sells.
Abnormal maintains it does not rely on Claude for client protection, as its threat detection runs on proprietary behavioral models. Anthropic's lawsuit seeks the disgorgement of all revenues, profits, and benefits.
