Anthropic opens an AI for Science track for rare disease research
Anthropic is taking applications for a rare genetic disease track within its AI for Science program. Selected researchers get up to $50,000 in Claude credits over six months, with the goal of building a research community around the work.
The program runs two tracks: fundamental science, and early biotech startups speeding up clinical development. An early partner on the first track, the Monarch Initiative consortium, is inviting grantees to work with its Mondo and DisMech resources, where Claude reads clinical reports and variant databases and flags shared disease mechanisms.
The credits cover Claude Opus and other models approved for biology. Applications are open through August 2, 2026.
