claude-files-pane shows Claude Code’s file reads live

A GitHub project called claude-files-pane, shared on Hacker News on November 1, shows the files Claude Code reads and edits in a file tree that updates live during a session. So far it exists only as a demo GIF on GitHub. Tools that already do this list their requirements and how they work.
The closest match is data-goblin’s filetree mod, version 0.4.1, released October 23. The mod’s page on Claude Mods says it docks a tree beside the session and colours files by what Claude does to them. Reads and searches turn purple, and that includes rg, grep, find and cat run through the shell. Writes turn orange, staged or committed files turn green, and each highlight fades within three seconds. The mod needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later. In the terminal it also needs the fullscreen layout (/tui fullscreen) and a window at least 110 columns wide, while the desktop app’s Code tab docks it without that setup. It makes no network calls, and its only token cost is one line of context per prompt while a file is selected.
seetree, a terminal tree viewer written in Zig by Ray (ramonclaudio), watches session logs instead. By default it polls ~/.claude/projects/*.jsonl every 2 seconds. Running seetree --install-hook --apply adds Claude’s FileChanged hook to your settings, so the tree refreshes on every event and polling drops to every 30 seconds. In his post about building it, Ray says he wrote it because with four or five Claude Code sessions running at once, he couldn’t tell which files had been touched without reading through the thinking and bash calls.
