Andrej Karpathy joins Anthropic
Former Tesla AI director and OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy has officially joined Anthropic. He will lead a new effort focused on using Claude to accelerate research in pre-training models.
Karpathy is considered one of the world's leading experts in computer vision and neural networks. After leaving Tesla in 2022, he worked at OpenAI and launched the educational startup Eureka Labs. His experience will now help Anthropic develop core capabilities for future versions of Claude.
This appointment continues a series of high-profile moves from Elon Musk's companies and OpenAI. Earlier this month, Ross Nord, one of the founders of xAI, also joined Anthropic. The competition for talent among the main AI market players continues to intensify.
