Anthropic's model naming strategy

The name Mythos for Anthropic's flagship model references the ancient Greek concept that contrasts with logos. While logos relies on verifiable evidence, mythos represents a narrative accepted on faith, not requiring external verification.
This term aligns with Anthropic's controlled access policy through Project Glasswing. Previously, we reported that this tool helped discover 19 vulnerabilities in Symfony and over 10,000 critical bugs in third-party software. However, access remains restricted.
Anthropic's positioning combines technology and moral authority, reinforced by leadership visits to the White House and the Vatican. This strategy portrays the company as a responsible player whose security methods do not require external audit, as trust in the company is built into its public narrative.
