California secures 50% discount on Claude

Governor Gavin Newsom announced a state partnership with Anthropic. California agencies, along with cities and counties, can now access Claude at half price, supplemented by free employee training and technical support from Anthropic developers.

Claude is already in use across California government. The Engaged California platform and the Poppy tool for civil servants utilize the model, while the CDT and CalOES use Claude Security and Claude Code to scan and patch state code. The DMV uses Claude to reduce wait times, and the Department of Health Care Services employs it to assist with Medicaid recipients.

Claude is the first AI tool available to all agencies through the new SITeS portal managed by the California Department of Technology.
