Claude is now generally available in Microsoft Foundry
As of June 29, Claude models are available in Microsoft Foundry with hosting on Azure. Claude runs within the customer's Azure environment, utilizing standard authentication, billing, and access control mechanisms. Customers can select processing regions, including a US data zone to meet residency requirements.
At launch, Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Haiku 4.5 are available via the Messages API, supporting prompt caching and extended thinking. Anthropic performs the inference, acting as the data processor.
Two modes exist: hosting on Azure for internal perimeter operations, or hosting on Anthropic for the full suite of API features and models not yet available on Azure. For customers with a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement, Claude usage draws from their Azure commitment, and billing is consolidated. This follows the recent launch of Claude Desktop on cloud platforms.
