Claude Managed Agents now plans runs of up to 1,000 agents

Claude News

A single lead agent writes the plan, and up to 1,000 agents carry it out in phases before the results get merged at the end. That's dynamic workflows, the new multiagent orchestration in Claude Managed Agents, which ClaudeDevs announced on X as a public beta.

Setup takes one config change: set the multiagent type to multiagent_20261001, then ask Claude to run a workflow, and Claude writes the plan and orchestrates the fleet itself. You can start in Claude Code with /claude-api managed-agents-onboard bug-hunter, or pick a template from the agent quickstart on the Claude platform.

The catch is the bill. Anthropic warns these workflows can use a lot of tokens and suggests starting with a scoped task, then raising complexity step by step. Would you hand a 1,000-agent fleet a real task on day one?
