Monitoring Claude Code sessions with tmux
A developer configured tmux to track the status of multiple concurrent Claude Code agents. The setup displays each process status directly in the terminal status bar, eliminating the need to switch between windows.
The system uses built-in Claude Code hooks and tmux user variables. When an agent gets blocked on a permission request or a user query, the PermissionRequest hook turns the window indicator yellow. Once the job completes, the Stop hook turns the indicator green, signaling a ready response.
The after-select-window trigger automates resetting the status, removing the green marker when switching to an active window.
