No multiplayer in Claude Code Projects yet, Anthropic says

Anthropic is building a collaborative mode for Claude Code Projects, a post on Threads claims, and the only on-record words behind it come from Lydia Hallie of Anthropic, who said on November 6: “We don’t have multiplayer yet.” Everything past that sentence, the comparison with other products included, is the post’s reading of the word “yet”. Anthropic itself has confirmed nothing more.

For now, a project has one owner. Anthropic’s documentation, as described by AQ, says a project belongs to one user and cannot be shared, so teammates can’t work in the same Claude Code project yet.

The post points to two pieces of the Projects page: a Recent activity section that summarises the latest threads, and a project-level overview showing scheduled tasks and threads. It likens the coming collaborative mode to ChatGPT Spaces and says Perplexity is working on something similar.

Shared projects have been reported before. In August, TestingCatalog wrote that Anthropic was building collaborative Projects inside Claude Desktop, where several people and Claude would work in one session and split off a thread per task. Three months later, the product that shipped still keeps each project to one user.

That product is the Projects redesign Anthropic released in beta on September 17. In it, a coordinator directs parallel agent threads that draw on shared memory and a common library of files and artifacts. Each thread is a Claude Code cloud session on its own branch and copy of the repo, and when two threads touch the same code, the overlap comes back as a merge conflict, just like any other PR.
