The market value of AI wrappers is declining
The SaaS market lost around two trillion dollars in capitalization in a week in February 2026. Tools like Claude Code enable users to build simple applications themselves that previously required a subscription.
By 2030, 35 percent of niche SaaS services will be replaced by AI agents, according to Gartner. Around 90 percent of AI wrappers fail due to low margins. Examples like Chegg and Stack Overflow show how adding AI features to basic models can devalue business models.
Successful projects now need to focus on data, integrations, and user trust, rather than code. Users do not want to take responsibility for maintaining software. Selling the product creation process itself is no longer a sustainable business.
