Anthropic-backed consortium makes strategic acquisition to drive Claude adoption

Claude News

A $1.5 billion consortium backed by Anthropic, Blackstone, and Hellman & Friedman has made its first purchase: Fractional AI, a business AI integration specialist.

The deal means Fractional AI ends its nearly year-long partnership with OpenAI. The startup's engineering team will now work directly with Anthropic's applied AI division, focusing on integrating Claude models into mid-sized companies' workflows.

The consortium plans to embed its engineers within client organizations in healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. This will allow for internal workflow restructuring around Claude. The acquisition highlights Anthropic's push to capture the corporate AI market before a potential IPO.
