Anthropic files confidential IPO paperwork

The AI lab behind Claude has begun the process of going public. Anthropic submitted a confidential S-1 filing for an initial public offering.

The company was valued at $18.2 billion in a recent funding round. If things proceed smoothly, Anthropic could list as soon as this fall.

CEO Dario Amodei said plans are subject to market conditions and other factors. The filing was confidential, as permitted by SEC rules. A successful IPO could be one of the biggest in tech.
