Anthropic updates its privacy policy
The new data handling rules for Anthropic users take effect on July 8, 2026. The company is introducing the ability to require identity and age verification for consumer account holders.
During verification, Anthropic may request copies of government-issued IDs, photos, or video images. In some cases, the system will generate facial geometry templates classified as biometric data.
The policy clarifies that chat and agent session data is used for model training unless the user has opted out. The company emphasizes that it does not sell personal data to third parties and does not use automated decision-making with legal consequences for users.
