Dario Amodei calls for government oversight on AI model launches
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei argues that governments should have the power to block model releases if they pose risks. In an essay, he suggests mandatory testing by independent organizations.
The tests would assess cybersecurity and biological weapon risks. If a model is deemed unsafe, the government should be able to block its deployment.
Amodei stresses the need for external oversight to prevent critical consequences. The proposal applies to all AI developers, including Anthropic itself.
