Lean plugin for Claude Code slashes excess tokens
The Lean plugin brings two optimization rules to Claude: think-twice and surgical. These skills prompt the AI to find simpler solutions before generating code and avoid adding unrequested features.
In tests on 17 tasks, Lean cut token usage by 8x on average. For one case generating 500 user profiles, savings reached 178x. Without optimization, Claude often produces redundant code, including unnecessary tests and complex abstractions.
The plugin is available via the marketplace or manual installation in ~/.claude/skills/. Lean is not a hard requirement and can be disabled for tasks where safety or dependency-free operation is critical.
