Webify: an open source MCP server for web search in Claude Code
Webify is a new MIT-licensed MCP server that gives an agent two web search tools. It installs in two pip commands and runs in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, and Zed.
web_find queries multiple sources through Brave or DuckDuckGo and synthesizes an answer on Haiku for about $0.003 per request. web_lookup pulls the relevant snippet from a single page, returning 80 to 300 tokens instead of the 3,000 to 15,000 of full text, at roughly $0.0005 per request.
In a blind A/B test across 15 queries against Claude's Deep Research, Webify scored 68 of 75 (91%) versus 73 of 75 (97%), with 30 to 90 second latency against 80 to 280, and a per-request cost about 18x lower.
