Anthropic tells the origin story of Claude Code
Anthropic has published a short history of Claude Code, told by the people who built it and the early users who helped shape it into what it is today.
Claude Code started as an internal project, an agentic coding tool that runs right in the terminal, per youtube.com. Per linkedin.com, it grew from a VS Code extension that offered four suggestions per request into a tool that runs autonomous, multi-step loops.
