Ben Bernanke joins Anthropic's Long-Term Benefit Trust

Claude News

Anthropic's Long-Term Benefit Trust has named Ben Bernanke, a distinguished senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and former Federal Reserve chair, as its newest member. The trust is independent of management and investors: members hold no stake in Anthropic, take no share of profits, and are paid only for their time.

Bernanke ran the Fed from 2006 to 2014 and steered the central bank through the 2008 global financial crisis. He won the 2022 Nobel Prize in economics for his work on the Great Depression and the role of banks in financial crises.

The LTBT can appoint members to Anthropic's board and advises leadership on the risks and consequences of AI. Bernanke joins Neil Buddy Shah, Richard Fontaine, and Mariano-Florentino Cuellar, and will focus on the company's economic research.
