Anthropic tightens Claude subscription limits

Anthropic is introducing new usage limits on Claude subscriptions to account for agentic workflows. Credits for third-party tools like OpenClaw now draw from a separate balance.

The shift comes as autonomous agents emerge, driving up compute usage much faster than humans. A typical user sends dozens of requests per day; a code-writing agent can generate thousands per minute.

The move has drawn criticism from developers, some of whom say they'll switch to OpenAI's Codex. OpenAI is temporarily offering two months free to new business customers.

The change reflects a broader effort to manage compute costs in the face of rising demand from agentic applications.
